This painting is from an incredible week at Flat Head Lake in Montana, where I spent an entire 10 hour day photographing Glacier National Park. And the rest of our stay with Dave and Patty Shelledy as our hosts partying, telling stories, drinking wine and enjoying an incredible sunny fall day in the Caprye’s boat on Flat Head lake. This was the amazing sunset facing East and looking down toward the dock.
I replaced the white lawn chairs with these white Adirondacks style chairs that I have always wanted to paint. This was a great challenge to get the shading just right and again using the watercolor paper for some of the white “colors”. The cloud reflections in the lake were probably the most challenging part of this painting.
I hope people look at this and want to imagine themselves sitting deep into one of the chairs, breathing in the mountain air and watch God’s masterpiece unfold, of course while drinking a fabulous glass of wine!
